Marketing strategist · Brisbane

Ideas begin with people.

People rarely say why they leave. The data always does.

01 How I work

Strategy starts before the slide deck.

The deck is the last thing that happens. Three things come first.

1

Observe

Read the data until it stops being numbers.

2

Connect

Get the scattered pieces to agree on one story.

3

Move

Make the next decision look obvious in hindsight.

02 The work behind the thinking

Five jobs. One way of working.

Since 2021, across four sectors, the same habit: find the pattern, then make it useful.

Years of customer data, read closely enough to be useful.

  • Spotted who was about to leave, and why, from how they were using their account.
  • Looked after customers end to end in Salesforce.
  • Turned what the data showed into reports the team could act on.
  • Worked the in-market end of campaigns for the brands Telstra carries, including Apple, Samsung and Google.

Head office writes the campaign. The customer decides whether it lands.

  • Ran seasonal campaigns and in-store launches.
  • Kept the brand sounding like itself everywhere customers met it.
  • Passed what customers said back to the merchandising team.

A real client, a real inefficiency, and a panel that had to be convinced.

  • Redesigned Jabra's inventory and demo process after modelling where it leaked.
  • Presented the findings to a corporate client panel.

A startup with no budget for guessing. Segment, send, measure, repeat.

  • Helped more people open and read what we sent.
  • Used Google Analytics to work out who we should be talking to.
  • Juggled several campaigns at once and still hit every deadline.

Research that had to end in a signed client, not a slide.

  • Sized up the competition so we knew how to approach a client.
  • Followed enquiries through to signed clients to see which channels paid off.
  • Wrote the briefs, proposals and the material clients read.

04 The point of view

The story in the data matters. The person behind the story matters more.

The easy questions tend to be answered already. I like the messy ones, the kind that need analysis and imagination in the same afternoon.

05 The Macquarie chapter

A degree, and the people who came with it.

Where I learned the people around the work matter as much as the work.

The best days were usually about the people.

Retail is long hours and a lot of repetition. Good company is what turns a shift into something you remember.

The next chapter

Let's make something worth remembering.

I'm interested in ambitious ideas, thoughtful teams, and problems that could use a second opinion.
